Kentucky Speakers Association - January 14

Punch It Up! How to effectively add humor to your presentations

Panel discussion with some of our funniest humor experts

Description

Laughter is a sure-fire way to unite an audience, grab their attention, and increase your likability on stage. Presentations on any topic can be made more engaging with a healthy dose of humor. And you don’t have to be a comedian to get them laughing!

In this panel discussion, some of our funniest local speakers will discuss their secrets to getting laughs, techniques we can use to mine our own humor, and pitfalls to avoid.

Emerging speakers - you will benefit by improving how you develop your stage presence and personal stories.

Experienced speakers - you will learn how to punch up the presentations you already have.

Come prepared with questions, and bring a guest as this promises to be a fun and informative program.

PANELISTS

Mack Dryden

Mack Dryden has been delighting audiences for years with his relaxed stage presence, hilarious stories, and uniquely engaging delivery. As a comedian he’s performed on dozens of TV shows, including The Tonight Show with both Johnny Carson and Jay Leno. As an actor he’s appeared in several movies and on many other TV shows, including JAG and a recurring role as a judge on ABC’s The Guardian.

Creating hilarious custom humor for each client comes naturally to the former staff writer for Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, and his stories of surviving two battles with cancer, a stay in an African prison, “sharks in showbiz who stab you in the front,” and one “near-fatal marriage” are as inspiring as they are laugh-out-loud funny.

 Bob Farmer

Bob Farmer is Louisville native and travels the nation entertaining, educating and motivating all types of audiences. He’s been called a good mix between Jerry Clower and Garrison Keillor.  His extensive resume includes several appearances on The Grand Ole Opry and is a CMA Artist member.

Bob is also known as "Farmer Bob" as a National Spokesman for the famous Farmers' Alamanc. He has 2 CDs and a DVD, and is a writer who has been quoted on the front page of The Wall Street Journal.

He is a member of the International Society of Storytellers, and was sponsored by Zig Ziglar in joining the prestigious National Speakers Association over 20 years ago. He is also one of the three founding members of our Kentucky chapter in 1984.

Mark Klein

Mark Klein is a native of Louisville, and this Colgate University graduate (B.A. English—let this be a warning to your children) has been making laughter his living for 30 years. He began his career as a stand-up comedian in comedy clubs from Alaska to Florida, headlining top rooms across the country. Mark expanded his schedule to include corporate and cruise ship entertainment. His performance calendar now comprises shows in venues ranging from special events to dinner theaters to comedy clubs. He is able to customize his show to accommodate his clients’ needs for both content and context.

Mark, who is married and has a son, is also a Thoroughbred racehorse owner, real estate investor, writer, bourbon aficionado, and the official walker of the dumbest dog in the world.

Anne Murray

Anne Murray’s humorous and intensely personal program, “I’m not WEIRD; I’m Just Not YOU!” has been presented in 31 states and two provinces in Canada. With degrees in psychology, counseling and interpersonal communication, she teaches her audiences to understand themselves and each other using humor and interaction. She gets paid to teach grown people to act nice!

With her knowledge in psychological type and communication, she is often called on to coach executives, engineers and physicians who are…technically brilliant…but interpersonally oblivious! She also gives humorous convention keynotes that vary by occupation or interests. She is an alleged humorist who early on constantly received calls from people with program budgets for the Fun Speaker, so she adopted that tagline.

Anne has worked with natural gas and oil companies, Fortune 100 companies, hospitals, major universities, and the Einstein College of Medicine in NYC. Anne served as Dean of Women, Faculty member,  Assistant Vice President and Acting Director of Development at Western Kentucky University before leaving security and stepping out into the wild world of professional speaking.
