Motor City Mile General Information

Join us for the the annual Motor City Mile. It is an open water swim held at the Belle Isle Beach in Detroit. This year the swim will be benefiting the ALS Association.

*We reserve the right to postpone or cancel the event for any situation which may create a safety concern. In the event of said situation, no competitors will be due a refund.*

Event Information: 

- Sponsored by Different Strokes Swim Shop to benefit the ALS Association.

- Free t-shirt for pre-registered participants on a first come, first seve basis while supplies last.

- Post- race refreshments for participants at event.

- Luncheon after the event is provided by the Detroit Yacht Club for all participants, volunteers and guests. (Adults: $16.50 each; Children 12&Under: $13.00 each, Volunteers are free). You MUST have a wrist band to enter the club. 

 

Registration:

Online registration will close at Midnight, Tuesday July 4th

-Registration is a donation of $30.00 per participant. 

- Day of event registration is a minimum donation of $35.00

Crowdrise:

-If you don't wish to swim but still want to contribute to the cause, additional donations to the ALS Association can be made on our crowdrise page. You can donate to the foundation, or to support a participant. All donations on crowdrise include, but are not limited to our MCM participants. We greatly appreciate all donations made to support the ALS Association.

Check-in Day of Event: 

-5k and 1 mile check-in: 7:15am-8:30am (see entry form for 5k entry restrictions)

- 1/2 mile check-in: 7:15am-945am

- MANDATORY MEETING FOR ALL ATHLETES: 5K and 1 mile swimmers meeting at 8:30 am. Half Mile meeting will be at 10:15am. These meetings are mandatory for all participants. You will go over the course and what to do in case of any emergency.

The Race: 

- There will be a 1/2 mile, 1 mile, and 5K course set up by buoys in the Detroit River. Belle Isle Beach will servea as a start and finish for all races. 

-As safety is our main concern, there will be boats, kayaks, and lifeguards patrolling throughout the course to ensure every participants safety. 

-Start Times*: 5K and 1 Mile swims -- 9:00 am - approximatley 10:45 am. *There will be 5 minutes between each wave. Please see entry form for specific start times of each event.*
