Your Suzuki “Elevator Pitch” presented by Margaret Watts Romney

Be prepared when someone asks, “Why Suzuki?” In this interactive session, we will write, discuss, and practice our responses to ubiquitous questions like “Why are you a Suzuki teacher?” “What is Suzuki teaching?” and “Why do you choose Suzuki music for your child?” This workshop will help you look closely at your own answers, and feel confident speaking up about why Suzuki.

Presentation Skills: It’s All About Body Language presented by Margaret Watts Romney

When you find yourself in front of a crowd and talking, your body language and energy will connect you to your audience faster and more memorably than your message. How do you draw in your audience and keep their attention? How do you fight the jitters? What if you forget what you were going to say!? In this session, you will gain tools to make your speaking more confident and impactful.

Discipline With Love presented by Georgia Anderson

In this class we will discuss the difference between discipline and punishment, learn research based strategies to foster responsibility, self discipline, and problem solving, and practice solutions to parental melt downs. “My child is not giving me a hard time, my child is having a hard time”.—John Gottman

Four Fixes for Relationship Meltdowns presented by Georgia Anderson

The groundbreaking research of John Gottman pinpointed four communication styles that signal relationship distress.  This class will present both cause and cure, offering subtle and simple changes we can make in our relationships that foster closeness and mutual respect.

Emotion Coaching presented by Georgia Anderson

Every parent knows the importance of equipping children with the intellectual skills they need to succeed in life. But children also need to learn to master their emotions. Emotionally intelligent children enjoy more self confidence, better health, higher performance in school, and healthier social relationships.  This class will help you foster this ability within your children…and maybe even yourself.

Strength Training—Inspiring Courage and Confidence in Others presented by Georgia Anderson

In this class we will focus on research regarding true self esteem, and how to build it in others, preparing our children to meet life’s challenges with confidence.  We will build skills for giving and receiving compliments in a way that is genuine and meaningful.

Two Heads are Better Than One presented by Brittany Gardner and Kelly McConkie Stewart

In the summer of 2016, I was feeling overwhelmed by the demands of running a large studio and balancing that with my role as a mother of school-age children. To mitigate the feeling of being spread too thin, I approached one of my colleagues with the idea of combining our studios for group classes, and sharing the teaching load. What started out as a way to balance busy schedules became a meaningful cross-studio collaboration that has enriched our teaching and our students’ growth. This session will cover the how’s, why’s, and what’s of successful cross-studio collaboration.

Preparing for Orchestral Playing (Harp) presented by Elizabeth Clark

Orchestras need harpists that are confident and prepared. Stepping into a first rehearsal for any piece can be nerve wracking. In this class, we will discuss how to prepare an orchestral piece for performance, what to expect in a rehearsal, what the standard orchestral excerpts are, how to prepare for an orchestral audition and more.

Vibrato for Violin and Viola presented by Ruth Godfrey and Leslie Henrie

Ideas for teaching successful hand and arm vibrato. Ruth Godfrey will focus on the hand vibrato exercises and development; Leslie Henrie will share on the development of arm vibrato. Ruth and Leslie will be assisted by their students who will demonstrate how a young child can develop a great vibrato. Participants should bring their instruments and try the exercises in the class.
