Join us for a short presentation, panel discussion and Q & A on the newly released white paper: Transforming Classroom Instruction through New Teacher Roles and Responsibilities.

The paper takes into account Generation Schools Network’s experience and lessons learned in structuring school differently and organizing teacher roles in a way that allows them to support the needs of the whole student and daily collaborate with their colleagues to prepare their best instruction. Then stay with us to learn about how new teacher roles can impact workforce preparedness.

YOU’RE INVITED TO HELP US BRIDGE THE OPPORTUNITY GAP

A gap exists that must be bridged.

Gallup says 94% of educators, but only 11% of employers believe our current education system is adequately preparing students for life and work. Why the disconnect? It isn’t desire or intention. Employers, educators, parents, students, and teachers all want our future workforce prepared with the skills needed to succeed in school, work, and life. What you can measure, you can develop – which has historically been limited to academics. While strong cognitive skills are critical, our schools and youth programs must also empower students with essential personal and professional skills like creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.

What is Project: BeReady?

Project:BeReady is a public/private consortium of 17 foundations, gov’t organizations, educational institutions and private enterprise that came together to establish the first validated measurement system of life and work preparedness. Project:BeReady leveraged over a decade of research into 21st Century skills and 60+ years of science in behavioral attribute measurement. Together, the planning partners developed a system to longitudinally measure, evaluate, and foster the development of these essential skills critical to preparing our nation’s youth for lifelong success and self-sufficiency.

Generation Schools Network and Project: BeReady invite you to:

  • Learn about the comprehensive set of 20 EC Skills (essential college and career skills) identified by the Planning Committee
  • Consider a new measurement tool for life and work preparedness that enables educators and funders to evaluate program effectiveness beyond academic competencies and respond more fully to the needs of the whole child
  • Engage as a potential pilot site as we expand the Project:Be Ready effort nationally to measure and develop the skills that lead to success in college and careers
