RITE OF SPRING

With The Rite of Spring's premiere in 1913, Stravinsky shattered boundaries of all music that came before.  Not only was it so shocking that is caused a riot after that first performance, but it was so groundbreaking that it influenced a host of composers that followed. Over a century later, it continues to stir up strong emotions and is known as one of the most difficult pieces in the repertoire because of its rhythmic complexity and jarring harmonies.   

This concert also features Young Artist Competition winner William Volmar in a charming Mozart Piano Concerto.
