Development Assistant - Full-time

Jewish Family Services (JFS) is offering an opportunity for a full time Development Assistant to work under the direction the Vice President of Development and Communications. This position will is responsible for general management of the development office, support services for agency fundraising activities, and outreach and marketing efforts. This position plays an integral role in helping the department run smoothly and efficiently in an effort to meet its goals. This individual will have the opportunity to learn and grow in the areas of individual solicitation, grant writing, special events, outreach and community education and program development.

Qualified candidates must have EITHER a minimum of an Associate’s degree with emphasis in business or business administration plus 2 years of related work experience in development and/or fund raising OR a minimum of four years or more of related work experience in development and/or fund raising. Previous experience in database management and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (especially Office 2010) is required.  Previous experience in a non-profit organization is helpful. Qualified candidates will also be able to work effectively with agency staff, clients and community members, to maintain donor and agency confidentiality, possess strong writing and proof reading skills including the proper use of grammar and punctuation as well as strong oral communication skills appropriate for different audiences. Other desired qualities include: highly organized, impeccable attention to detail, self-directed, ability to work independently or as part of a team, ability to prioritize work, and manage multiple tasks and events at one time. Availability to set up and assist with meetings on evenings and weekends is required. Knowledge, understanding and/or willingness to learn Jewish culture and traditions are necessary. A valid driver's license AND access to a car with insurance is required. Successful completion of a criminal background check with the Wisconsin Bureau of Justice, Crime Information Bureau is also required.
