USA International Rugby Academy Fall 2013

High School Players Course

A Welcome Message from USAIRA Directors Paul Keeler and Eugene Mountjoy:

The USA International Rugby Academy High School Player's Course, founded 2013, is the cornerstone of our development program. Our goal is to attract, recruit & develop America’s best young rugby talent by providing an effective development continuum, high quality competition and first class qualified coaches.
We provide our young players with an environment in which they can grow, express themselves both personally and professionally and realize their dream of playing collegiate and International Rugby. At USAIRA, we value attitude, commitment, integrity, and honesty as highly as we do rugby ability. We have assembled an experienced team of coaches, technical experts and support staff who all specialize in player development. In the program, particular focus is paid to core skills and game awareness but also includes physiology, sports psychology, nutrition and personal development.

About the Course

The USAIRA High School Player's Course is for players 14-20 who have the ability and/or the desire to progress to higher levels of rugby.  After participating in the fall course select players will be invited to participate in our Nor Cal all star academy team.  Selection will place a player into a personal development program that is geared primarily to ensuring that his capacities and abilities as a player are maximized. These players will be mentored by our top coaches, and will also be learning from current and former International rugby players. They will also have dedicated training sessions once a week where core skills, game awareness, video analysis and personal development are highlighted.

This course has the full support and encouragement of the HS All American Coaching staff, some of whom will be making guest coaching appearances.  We will be working closely with the HSAA coaches to maximize every academy players potential for national selection honors.  To this end, specific details and coordinated action plans  will be provided. These will include the necessary mental, physical, tactical, and technical skills needed for success.
