Understanding Mechanical Systems

**COURSE FULL**

Are you a professional new to the mechanical industry? Are you responsible for coordinating work for mechanical contractors? This course is excellent for those who want to gain a basic understanding of mechanical systems.

Explore the plumbing system, including components and design principles of the sanitary, storm, and domestic water systems. Discuss the common types of HVAC systems in buildings and discuss the components and design elements of heating, ventilation, and cooling systems that provide a comfortable and safe environment. The use of plans/specification and code issues is also incorporated into the course and “green building” examples in both plumbing and HVAC systems will be provided.

Instructor: Keith Rahn’s industry experience comes for owning a mechanical contracting company in Indiana for many years. He currently serves as an assistant professor at Auburn University in the McWhorter School of Building Science. Prior to his current position, Rahn served as an instructional assistant professor at Illinois State University (ISU) for nine years. While at ISU, he taught a variety of classes that covered instruction in mechanical and electrical systems, project management and administration, estimating and project scheduling, and construction material methods.

Approved for PEU credits in STL and JEFF Counties.
