Proactive Patient Partnering

MARCH SANG: "Proactive Patient Partnering: Critical to Health and Critical to Success in Today's HCAHPS and HRRP environment”will be presented by Dorothy Erlanger, President, Erlanger, Inc.

Patient compliance and commitment are critical to health care effectiveness and productivity; a huge
challenge – and an opportunity. We will share an integrated approach to building and sustaining
proactive patient partnerships, including determining success factors, identifying key players,
organizational/functional partnering, implementing improvements and establishing metrics. We are
now in a ‘perfect storm’ of aging population, desire to remain independent, government rules on
care/compensation and an ever more complicated health care environment. Within each piece of the
system, individuals and institutions are striving to improve, while confronting way too many unknowns
about what to do, what works, how to measure. We will drill down into best practices, tools available
and metrics to track as you move ahead. This will be an open and interactive session, drawing on
participant examples and challenges as part of the program.

Dorothy Erlanger brings a unique perspective to health care audiences, with personal, educational and
career experience from nearly all angles of the system. Starting at home, with her father a doctor and
her mother working in medical research, as a patient in the system with multiple surgeries as a child
related to a birth defect, majoring in biology at the University of Chicago, working in a hospital lab,
moving into sales and marketing in the Pharma industry both US and internationally. And that was the
starting point. Launching her own consulting and training business over thirty years ago, she has
undertaken a broad range of projects for health industry clients worldwide. Her blend of consulting,
training and unique personal experience coupled with her capability as an outstanding group facilitator
with a continuous emphasis on actionable results and lasting impact are highly valued by clients.
Dorothy’s commitment to proactive patient partnering came from all of the above – but was capped
with what it took to beat advanced ovarian cancer – now nearly 14 years ago. Coming out of that, she
has served as Patient Advocate on research review committees, done research on advocate
effectiveness for an NCI group, speaks to Medical Students in the Survivors Teaching Students program
– and also gone from total non-athlete at 50 to Ironman triathlete at 63.

Breakfast and General CEU's included in the $10.00 fee.
