Discovering Excellence in Pilates

with Clare Dunphy and Brett Howard

.

What does excellence in Pilates look like? Join Clare Dunphy and Brett Howard for a three day in depth discovery into how we can go deeper into all aspects of teaching from our personal technique, cueing, feedback and corrections to how we cultivate ourselves and teach with brilliance.

Delve into the excellence of your:

  • own personal technique
  • knowledge of the work and the system of Pilates
  • communication skills
  • ability to progress the work and pull out the best from your clients
  • adeptness at analyzing of the body in front of you
  • skill at defining and addressing the needs of the individual

The ability to integrate new teaching skills is best learned and adopted when practiced in the context of their own use. So we have come up with ways which simulate real life situations to apply what you learn in an interactive environment and walk away with a new level of understanding the art of teaching

Clare Dunphy is a world recognized Pilates teacher, teacher trainer and fitness educator. She is an author of the Peak Pilates certification program and has spent the past 11 years mentoring teacher trainers worldwide. Clare lives in Newburyport, MA where her studio Progressive Bodyworks is located, a unique space for teachers around the world to study the art of teaching, through certification, CEC workshops and her new Pilates Masters Program launching later in 2011.

Clare began in the fitness industry in 1981 teaching aerobics and personal training and began leading workshops for fitness professionals in 1987. In 1995, Clare studied Pilates under first generation Master Teacher Romana Kryzanowska and completed her certification in 1997. She also trained with Master Teachers Jay Grimes, Bob Leikens, and Sari Mejia Santo. Clare graduated from Northeastern University in 1995 with a BS in Physical Education and holds certifications through PMA, ACE, and the Pilates Guild. Committed to preserving the authenticity and tradition of Pilates, her approach is refreshing, energetic and supportive. Clare's gift is her ability to merge leading-edge educational approaches with traditional Pilates and to explain concepts in simple, clear ways. Clare's workshops echo her deep commitment to help instructors learn new techniques, providing them a framework to apply them into their classes.

Comments of past attendees:

What drew me to the particular workshop is that it didn't focus on the actual exercises but on the qualities of teaching them. Thank-you!

What really peaked my interest was all the demonstrations, observing teaching, and thinking about cueing. I think Brett and Clare were a phenomenal team. You really worked well together, all your hard work and effort really showed through.

I learn a lot that I can use right away! Hoping that my eye will be better and that I can raise my expectations of my clients and offer them a deeper Pilates experience. Loved the organization...excellent three days!

I got really good ideas on new ways to cue...makes me think of gaps I must address with my clients so that I can progress them further.

Three things I liked best about this experience:

1. Clare Dunphy- love her work and her enthusiasm

2. Brett Howard: really enjoyed lessons and seeing him teach

3. The workshop topic: touching on what seems to get brushed over

This workshop validated what I already know and made me feel good about what I am doing. I got so much out of this to help me with observing clients and how to help them in the moment.

I enjoyed how Clare and Brett complement each other with comments, teaching, practice, experience. I most benefitted from the interactive activities, demonstrations, and personal experiences of the instructors.
