"Why Love in Education" Professional Learning Series

School Services of Montana (SSoM) is hosting a  four-part virtual learning series that will explore the student-teacher relationship and the critical role that it plays in promoting student learning - from loving and caring for ourselves to loving and caring for others.

Between the weekly sessions, participants will have an opportunity to apply what they’ve learned with their own students, and then reflect on their findings.

Virtual Learning Dates & Times:

Part 1 - Why Love in Education, April 7, 2021, 3:30 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. - Participants explore the overwhelming evidence from a variety of sources that love is the most potent force in promoting flourishing relationships as well as full and healthy human development.

Part 2 - The Personal ConnectionApril 14, 2021, 3:30 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.  Exploring the human-to-human relationship that transcends the formal, hierarchical student-teacher relationship.

Part 3 - The Professional ConnectionApril 21, 2021, 3:30 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.  Addressing how educators connect each student to learning.

Part 4 - The Charismatic ConnectionApril 28, 2021, 3:30 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.  Exploring the unique charisma/gifts that teachers possess which inspire students to engage in learning. The Charismatic Connection manifests as a unique asset of leadership that students are attracted to and willingly follow.

About your facilitator:  This virtual learning series will be facilitated and led by Dr. Gerry Nolan.  Dr. Nolan has been a professional educator since 1979, and he has served as a teacher, coach, curriculum director, building principal, district superintendent, university adjunct faculty and school board chairman. Dr. Nolan was the 2017 Southwest Montana Superintendent of the Year.  Dr. Nolan has shared the message of the importance of love in promoting full and healthy human development from Wisconsin to California. He is the author of Loving Teachers: Wisdom, Beauty, and Blessings.


Renewal Credits: Eight (8) OPI Renewal Credits will be earned by participating in this four-part professional learning webinar and completing the follow-up reflection applying the learning to your work.
