Registration for "How to Study Buildings and Precedent" by Stephen Chrisman 

Join us with special guest speaker Stephen Chrisman, (Ferguson & Shamamian, NYC) as we spend two days learning how to look at and study the essential elements of a building.

Earn 9 AIA CEUs for this two day course. 

Day One: In-class learning.  Day Two: Field study and sketchbook drawing of buildings in Salt Lake City.

This is part of the Classicism Defined Curriculum.

Cost: $200 ICAA Members, $250 Non-Members

Materials are not required, but here is a list of suggested sketching materials for Day Two:

Materials recommended: 

  • Sketchbook; hardbound (+/-) 6” x 9” (stitched binding so the book can open flat).
  • 12” architects scale, with 1/8”, 1/4”, 3/4”, 1 1/2” and 3” scales.
  • Mechanical pencil with 0.5 HB lead. (Alvin Draft/Matic or similar) 
  • Eraser stick, (Tuff Stuff Eraser Stick or similar)
  • 12ft or 25ft steel tape
  • Folding wooden rule, 6ft (option)
  • Small pencil bag or case to keep drawing supplies.
