TTN November Lunch & Learns 

We are bringing back our Lunch & Learns and have two great sessions coming your way in November!  Just hop on zoom and join in to listen while eating your lunch.  There will be 15 minutes of networking in breakout rooms afterwards for those who can stick around.  Get to know some other professionals and tell them what you learned/thought about/decided to do as a result of the presentation.   

Attend either session or both, choosing your option on the registration form.  Each session will be held from 11:45-1:15pm. First 15 mins. will be getting situated and hearing about TTN updates. We ask that everyone sign in by 11:55 so as not to disrupt the speakers. Presentation content will be 12:00-1:00pm with networking time (if you can stay) from 1:00-1:15pm. Thursday, November 11th Presentation:

"Districts CAN Create Integrated SEL/Trauma Informed Classrooms: Integrating TI/SEL into Tier 1"

PRESENTERS: Amanda Deeter, MS, PCC, Social Emotional Specialist, & Jackie Renegado, both with Montgomery County Educational Service Center

DESCRIPTION: Using the latest neuroscience of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) as the foundation, this session will highlight the essence of integrating these frameworks through Tier 1 practices. Participants will walk away with an overall blueprint including a professional development playbook, practical coaching tools, a TIC/SEL crosswalk, walkthrough rubric and more.  SEL is grounded in neuroscience. Neuroscience tells us that creating safea nd strong relationships is the most important aspect of creating integratedSEL/Trauma informed learning environments. Together staff and students can thrive instead of just surviving in social isolation. students can

Participants will: 1) Understand how brain based strategies for regulating, building relationships, and developing SEL skills lay the foundation for trauma-informed, SEL, and equitable Tier 1 strategies. 2)Synthesize knowledge of the connections between equitable trauma-informed schools and SEL schools using a crosswalk tool. 3) Analyze, discuss, and customize practical tools used for implementation of this integrated framework in smaller to medium-sized districts with limited resources (ie. Professional development, playbook, coaching tools, Implementation rubric)

Tuesday, November 30th Presentation:

"Our Sprouting Minds"

DESCRIPTION & PRESENTER INFO: My name is Jordan Payne. I have a BA from Cincinnati Christian University. I grew up in Cincinnati, Oh with extensive adverse childhood experience.  I am the student minister at Lifespring Christian Church and also the founder of Our Sprouting Minds INC. Our Sprouting Minds' mission is: to inspire immersive, trauma-informed, and strength based therapeutic horticulture, developing  at risk youth's resiliency and psychological well-being.  That’s a lot of words. Basically what we want to see is trauma responsive care implemented into programs that need it the most, and we use gardening to do it! So far we have had projects with City Gospel Mission, Talbert House, New Path Child and Family Solutions, Gabriel’s Place, with the first garden being created at Child Focus, Inc. The beauty of our approach is the level of empowerment that recipients of our service receive. They are allowed to design their own garden beds, build themselves, nurture and harvest their plants, and decided what to do with their harvest. We are in our third year and have now received 501c3 status which is a huge win. 

In my talk I will cover:
-What is therapeutic horticulture -How/Where can it be applied -What wins can be expected -What lessons have been learned in utilizing the trauma informed, strength-based approach via a therapeutic horticulture curriculum. (How can it be used in other ways) 

COST: $5 per session - This is to cover some small admin costs and encourage attendance of those registered, while staying within our zoom limits. Maybe bring a guest and cover their fee as a gesture of kindness :)
