Emergency Medicine and Immuno-Oncology Intersect: Recognizing and Managing Cancer Immunotherapy-Related Adverse Effects in the Emergency Department
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to receive practical guidance on how to evaluate and effectively manage patients with cancer presenting to the ED in an acutely
unwell state to determine if they could be experiencing unique immune-related adverse effects (irAEs) associated with the new class of cancer immunotherapies. You will also be able to engage in a discussion of real cases and challenging clinical scenarios, as well as get answers to your questions.
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
Summarize the basic principles of harnessing the human immune system in the treatment of cancer, as well as the mechanistic aspects of immune checkpoint inhibition in cancer therapy and development of immune-related adverse effects (irAEs) associated with immunotherapies
