Program Description:
The wildfires in northern California have shaken everyone in the area, directly or indirectly. Many advisors have clients in the fire zone and are wondering how to advise and help them through the long period ahead. Most advisors are not experienced property insurance providers and tend to avoid this topic in reviews. The home is the largest single asset in most portfolios. Advisors and their clients need a way to assess insurance coverage. The discussion planned for November 10th will cover the experience of a survivor of a different fire, key areas of a homeowner’s policy that need close examination, and suggestions of how to support your clients who are fire victims and those who are not. We’ll also hear from Brian Trouette, a local insurance broker, on some of the nuances the insurance companies won’t tell you about.
Speaker Bios:
Ora Citron, Financial Advisor, LPL
Ora Citron is an LPL Financial Advisor with an office in Walnut Creek. She has been in practice for 15 years. Her specialty is working with women experiencing transition – divorce, widowed and retirement. She is a member of the FPA East Bay chapter and served ten years on the FPA NorCal Committee. She has been selectged as a Five Star Wealth Manager for the past two years and been given the Women’s Choice Award for the the past three years.
In 2009, a very hot, fast-moving fire destroyed her home. It was two years before her family was able to move back to their own home. Though back at a new home, the fight with the insurance company continued for another year. She comes to you today to provide what she learned hoping it helps you and your clients.
Brian Trouette, Founder, Trouette Insurance Agency
Brian founded Trouette Insurance Agency in 1998 with a mission of providing a disciplined, analytical approach to insurance for high-net-worth individuals and families. Brian’s specialty is providing detailed analyses to fully understand clients’ coverage needs, expose gaps in their current coverage and provide guidance to clients to choose appropriate insurance. Careful analysis of the client’s risk profile and the specific language of policies can make the difference between being covered for a loss vs having a financial disaster.
