You are invited to the first public workshop presentation of the new show, Gaspar!: The Musical, on Saturday, Feb. 12, 7:00 PM at The St. Petersburg Museum of History.

From the writer-director of Webb’s City: The Musical and Crossing the Bay, Gaspar! is a swashbuckling, new musical comedy that captures the spirit of wild fun and merriment found in the annual Gasparilla celebration. 

With music by Constantine Grame and libretto by Bill Leavengood, Gasparilla! is a fast-paced, bawdy tale of “trading places” that finds the legendary pirate,  Jose Gaspar, magically transported through time to modern day Tampa Bay, while his identical counterpart, a Florida politician running for governor, finds himself captaining the pirate ship, Floriblanca, in 1751.

Songs in this brand new musical romp include “The Wonder of Plunder”, “Who Knew This Was Paradise”, “How Did I Get Here?”, “Surviving in a Man’s World” and “Believe in You Lies”.

The cast includes Jim Sorensen, Chris Loving, Amanda Ladd, Sydney Reddish, David Powers, Jonathan Dacres, Cody Novotny, James Swallow and Lauren Grame.

Program begins at 7pm.
