University of Toledo 15th Annual High School Honors Choir Festival

The University of Toledo cordially invites you–and a mixed quartet or octet of your finest students–to participate in the 15tth Annual Invitational Honors Choir Festival at The University of Toledo, the weekend of Friday and Saturday, November 18-19, 2011 in the UT Center for Performing Arts on our beautiful main campus. Online registration deadline is October 21, 2011. If you have changes to your registration or questions, please contact Steve Hodge. His contact information is to your left.

The Program
Guest Conductor this year is Mr. William Schwepe,  a retired voice instructor for The University of Toledo. Prior to that, Mr. Schwepe served for 25 years as Director of Choral Activities for Fostoria High School, Fostoria, Ohio. This year's repertoire will consist of the following selections:

  • Gaudete by Burrows
  • Miserere Nobis by Wheeler
  • Garden’s Last Red Rose by Nix
  • Old Dan Tucker by Ginsberg
  • Skye Boat Song by Smith

Basic Schedule
Students, teachers and chaperones register on Friday night, November 18 starting at 6 p.m. in the lobby of the newly renovated Center for Performing Arts.  Rehearsal follows at 7 p.m. concluding at 9:30 p.m.  Most schools choose to drive back home for the night.  Others choose for their students along with teachers or chaperones to lodge at nearby motels, which will have special rates for this event.  In the past, UT offered host family housing; this year we cannot support that service due to increased concern over liability issues.

Registration & Check-in
Easily register your students today by clicking the registration link at the bottom of this page. Register now even if you will pay by check later. If you are sending in registration forms by mail, you do not need to register here also. Check-in for the event will begin on Friday at 6 p.m. in the UT Center for Performing Arts.  The CPA is located on main campus at the corner of Towerview and W. Rocket Drive. Use the West Entrance off Secor Road. Participation is limited to 8 students per school.

Parents of minor students must complete and sign the Permission/Medical Consent form, which permits students to participate, provides emergency medical info and authorizes treatment of the student in the event of an emergency. Students over age 18 can complete the form themselves. Download the form (PDF).

Cost

The cost of registration is $40.00 per student.  An additional $3 credit card processing fee per student will also apply, but only to online credit card payments. Students will receive a commemorative T-shirt, music, other incidentals, refreshments, dinner, and quality instruction.  Music will be mailed out after we receive the registration fees for your students.

Payment Options
Online payment:   When you register your students on this site, you have the option to use a credit card to pay for student registrations. A $3 per student credit card processing fee applies. Visa, MC, Amex, & Discover or PayPal are accepted.
Checks:   Accepted from district, school or choir director only. No checks from students/students' families please. Make check payable to UT Dept. of Music. Must be mailed in advance in order for music to be mailed to you.

Overnight Accommodations
Overnight accommodations, which may be desirable for those traveling more than 90 minutes each way, are available. Hotel rooms for students and their families or chaperones are available for a discounted rate of $59 per room at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Center on Secor Road. Students are not permitted to stay in a room without a responsible adult (over age 21) present. Hotel arrangements must be made with UT and paid to UT to get the discounted rate, as it is a special group rate.

When registering students, please indicate if they will need any overnight accommodations. Lynda Obee will contact the family member or chaperone named. For more information or to make room payment arrangements call Lynda Obee at UT at 419.530.5072 or email her at Lynda.Obee@utoledo.edu.

Please plan to be with us for what promises to be a great experience for all!
