“Summer Sings” is a program presented by The University of Toledo that serves to promote choral masterworks through voice on experience.  On three successive Tuesday evenings, a reputable conductor will instruct choral singers in a fun-filled study session of a major choral gem culminating in a straight run-through performance.

Collegiality is the name of the game.  Lots of laughter, lots of passion and beautiful singing packed into two hours comprises each evening.  Your registration cost provides use of music, refreshments, ample free parking and professional leadership via baton and keyboard.

Dennis Blubaugh of Musical Resources

July 15 - Jesu, meine Freude by Johann Sebastian Bach

Dennis Blubaugh, well-known musician and owner of nationally acclaimed Musical Resources serves as the first conductor.  His chosen work is the exquisite Jesu, meine Freude by Johann Sebastian Bach.  Don’t worry about German pronunciation; neutral syllables will likely be employed.

Dr. Stephen Hodge, Director of Choral Activities for the University of Toledo

July 22 - Mozart's Requiem

Dr. Steve Hodge, Director of Choral Activities at The University of Toledo since 1989, serves up the Mozart Requiem.  This staple in the choral repertoire will receive special attention so you will want to experience the intensity of emotion which the director will project.  Special refreshments will honor Steve’s special birthday!

  Dr. Sandra Frey Stegman

  July 29 - Handel's Messiah

Dr. Sandra Frey Stegman, Professor, Bowling Green State University will lead the assemblage through the less well known but powerful choruses of GF Handel's Messiah.  Sandra is well known throughout the Midwest and beyond as an accomplished conductor, adolescent voice expert and popular clinician.
