Summer Institute Event

ASU Advanced Placement Program Institute offers 12 courses for AP and Pre AP training. Certificates of completion for 30 hours will be issued to each teacher who attends the entire institute and has paid fees in full. AP courses offered are Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, English Literature, English Language, Environmental Science, and U. S. History - new and U. S. History - experienced. Pre AP Courses offered are English, Math and Science. The cost is $525.00 per registrant for non-residential and $650.00 for residents staying in ASU Housing. Distribution of Arkansas funds will be based on priority status: 1st priority for Arkansas AP teachers who have not had previous AP training with emphasis on applicants from Needs Improvement "Priority or Focus" Schools. 2nd for Arkansas AP teachers previously trained. After March 15th, the remaining grants will be made available to Arkansas Pre AP teachers. An additional fee of $50.00 will be billed to participants who attend the Chemistry session for lab fees and materials. Schools or individuals will be billed the full amount if registered participant does not attend or cancels after July 7, 2014. Payment for the Institute is due by July 11, 2014.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Registration: Teachers may register by mail, e-mail, fax, or telephone.  Registration will be confirmed by mail, phone, or email.  You will recieve an itinerary for the week and a map to be mailed in June 2014.  If you have any questions about your registration, call (870) 972-2049.

Cancellations: Notification for cancellations must be received by July 3, 2014, to receive a refund.  After the deadline date, substitutions may be made, but refunds will not be issued.

Residential Check-In: 

Check-in for the AP Summer Institute begins Sunday evening, July 13 at 5:00 p.m. Check-in will be in the Honors Dorm east of the ASU parking garage.  Late resident check-in will be on Monday, July 14 from 5 :00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Honors Dorm. All bedrooms are single occupancy.

Non-residential check-In: Non-residential participants should register Monday morning from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. in the Heritage Plaza of the New Student Union, 3rd floor lobby. 

Parking:  Resident students will be provided parking permits at the time of their assignment for housing.  Non-resident students will receive parking permits either through the mail or at the Monday morning registration on the 3rd floor of the Student Union.  If a participant does not have a parking permit, it is necessary that parking be made in the "Blue" Visitor's parking spaces.

Meals:  A breakfast and lunch ticket will be issued to residential participants for the ASU cafeteria.  Communters will receive a lunch card for the cafeteria only.  Snacks will be provided for all participants in the mornings and afternoons.  There are nearby eateries (e.g., McDonald's, Wendy's, Quizno's, and Subway) on either end of the campus for your convenience at supper.

Opening General Sessions:  All are expected to attend this informational meeting on Monday, July 14, 8:00 a.m. and will end at 4:45 p.m. 

 Time:  Classes will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will end at 4:45 p.m.

Certificate:  Certificates of completion for 30 hours will be issued to all teachers who attend the entire Institute and have paid fees in full.  Attendance is mandatory and will be noted daily in each class.  This policy will be enforced.  A limited number of paid slots are available to Arkansas public school teachers by the state.
