Sell or Lease of Municipal Property

The Alabama Legislature has adopted a method for municipalities to dispose of both real and personal property not needed for public or municipal purposes. The presentation for this topic explains the state laws governing such sales and leases of real and personal property.  The presentation also discusses the process involved for sale or lease of real and personal municipal property.

2020 Census Outreach - Forming Complete Count Committees

The Census Bureau is conducting workshops on forming Complete Count Committees (CCC's).  A CCC is a team formed in order to increase the response rate to the 2020 Census.  Members of CCC's utilize the local knowledge, expertise, and influence of each Complete Count Committee member to design and implement a census awareness campaign targeted to the community.  The workshops provides information on why we conduct a Census every 10 years- since 1790, how the numbers affect federal funding and representation, and provides guidance on how to form a CCC.

Risk Management

Having insurance is often confused with having a risk management program. As a municipal entity you face many safety and liability challenges including some that are unique such as police and fire. In this session, we will discuss some of the safety and liability exposures you face and develop a framework of how to develop a risk management program for your municipality.
