 2020 Legislative Advocacy Day

Municipalities play a vital role in the success of our state by providing communities where citizens want to live, work and play.  The League’s Annual Legislative Advocacy Day CMO is specifically designed to encourage and enhance our members engagement in the state policy making process. It is also an excellent opportunity for state policy makers to hear from our locally elected officials, in unison, on the issues that are essential to the vitality of their communities.

Municipal officials will hear from Alabama House and Senate leadership on pressing state issues; the Alabama Transportation Institute on how we can address future infrastructure needs; a media specialist to advise on best practices when using the media to share your narrative; and have an opportunity to enjoy a reception at the Department of Archives and History following a full day of activities.

TOPICS:  Legislative Challenges & Opportunities, Legislative Leadership Panel/Session Outlook and Alabama Transportation Institute.

CMO CREDIT:  This session has been approved for a total of four (4) Basic, Advanced or Emeritus credit hours and one (1) Emeritus point in the Certified Municipal Official Program. Core Curriculum:This session is approved for two (2) elective core curriculum requirements.  Credit hours are not awarded in the core curriculum for duplicate training. Any municipal employee may register, but only elected officials will be awarded credit hours in the CMO Program.
