Featuring pioneers of Jewish feminist theology
Drs. Judith Plaskow & Martha Ackelsberg
Dr. Judith Plaskow is Professor Emerita of Religious Studies at Manhattan College and a Jewish feminist theologian. Plaskow received her B.A. from Clark University in 1968 and her Ph.D. from Yale in 1975. She has authored many books on the intersection of religion and feminism, including, “Standing Again at Sinai,” the first work of Jewish feminist theology.
Martha Ackelsberg is the William R. Kenan Jr. Professor Emerita of Government and Professor Emerita of the Study of Women & Gender at Smith College. Much of her work has been a further exploration of what she terms “applied feminist theory,” and, specifically, constructions of gender and citizenship.
