SDJO Summer Jazz Workshop participants will spend six fun filled educationally charged days with members of the critically acclaimed San Diego Jazz Orchestra.
The workshop curriculum will focus on ensemble rehearsal and development, and will include clinics on subjects like: improvisation, music theory, jazz history, and developing skill in a variety of jazz styles. The clinics, seminars, and rehearsals will be presented by some of the leading jazz musicians in Southern California.
The Workshop will culminate on the final day with a "Salt & Pepper" Clinic, where students will rehearse side by side with all of the members of SDJO. A master class will be given by grammy award winning pianist/composer Bill Cunliffe and, finally student groups will take part in a concert ending with The San Diego Jazz Orchestra featuring Bill Cunliffe.
The SDJO Summer Jazz Workshop is open to any San Diego County High School Music Student, including graduating seniors and students entering the 9th grade. Registration will be limited to the first 35 participants to register.
