TPP AFTER APEC:
With Some Reflections on ASEAN & RCEP

An Invitiation to a Discussion

Thursday, November 16, 2017
9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Washington, DC  20045

The United States withdrew from the proposed, 12-member Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement  last January.  Since then, the 11 remaining TPP countries have been working to finalize  a modified TPP, and they took a step in that direction during last week's APEC meetings in Da Nang.   Many of the same countries have also been working to wrap up the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, an ASEAN-based agreement that includes China and India.  RCEP's crticial meeting will be the ASEAN Summit  in Manila (November 9-14).

The future of TPP will be the starting point for this GBD discussion  on November 16.  The broader goal  is a better underestanding of the evolution of trade and trading arrangements in the Asia Pacific Region, including RCEP.
