“Enhancing the Sacred in Your Life and Home with Altars and Shrines” with Edie Quinn

In this class, retired History Professor, Edythe Quinn, explores the beautiful practice of creating and tending Home Altars & Shrines. She introduces us to her altars, the sacred reason for building them, like honoring family, or spiritual traditions, & shows us how to make one of our own. In part 2, we will show and tell the altars we have made.

More Info from Edie:

Please join me in exploring the beautiful practice of creating and tending Home Altars and Shrines. I create and tend these sacred spaces to celebrate, honor and remember family members, deities of spiritual traditions, and to observe holy days and seasonal feast days.  In our first session, I will discuss the concepts of home altars and introduce you to some of my altars.  The second session is YOUR “Show and Tell” to share new and already-existing altars in your home and exchange ideas.  Tuition is $25 for both sessions, or $20 if you are a member at ISD.  If  finances are tight due to these changing times of COVID click the 3rd option "Scholarship requested" at the REGISTRATION link below.

Your Teacher:

Edythe Ann Quinn, Ph.D., “Edie”
Edie combines Judeo-Christian and wide-ranging spiritual and healing practices and creates and tends home altars. A published author and feminist poet, for decades she taught  history at Hartwick College, and now, as Emerita Professor, is enjoying retirement in her farmhouse in the hills above Unadilla. Her classes at Oneonta Adult Learning Center were well-attended. In July 2006, she spoke on creating altars at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Oneonta.
