Introduction to Portraiture Class

Instruction by Chris Morris

Saturday, August 3rd 8:00am-9:30am

This class introduces students to the basic rules and ideas in portraiture. Students will learn about modifying light with minimal tools as well as shooting in monochrome. Workflow will also be discussed. It is recommended to have either taken the Digital Beginner Class or already have a basic understanding of your camera's controls and how to shoot in modes other than auto.

What to bring to class:

  • A DSLR camera
  • A medium range focal length lens - something between 50mm and 150mm will be fine.  Prime or zoom lenses will work.  You may bring multiple lenses to try if you have them.
  • Walking shoes and something in which to carry your equipment.  We will be shooting outdoors at a park close to f/32 Photo.

No need for tripod or other photography tools for this class.  Since we will be shooting on location, the less you have to keep up with the better.

Don't forget to check your camera to make sure the battery is charged and that you have an empty memory card!

Introduction to Portraiture is taught by Chris Morris.  Chris has a B.F.A. in Graphic Design and an M.F.A. in Photography.  He has recently relocated to Tennessee and is excited to begin teaching here in conjunction with f/32 Photo.  He will be instructing classes on a regular basis with varying topics, so stay look for more information coming soon!
