 Frequently Asked Questions

Who may register?  Anyone who works or volunteers (in a formal position within an organization) for a Butler County agency or school and who is in a position where they assist families in accessing services and supports. Specifically:

  • Individuals who are new to Butler County, their agency or in a new role within their organization. “New” means less than one year.
  • Individuals whose organization is a part of the No Wrong Door initiative and have been identified as a Navigator or Gateway staff. 
  • Student interns may register only if space allows

Do I need to attend all days or can I sign up for just one?  To accomplish the objectives of this event registrants are required to be available all days. This training is being offered at a reduced rate.  If you do not show up for a session without notification, your supervisor will be informed and your agency may be charged a fee. The no show fee would cover the cost of the food and the spot that would have been filled by another participant.

What if I can’t walk long distances and/or board a bus?  Alternative transportation arrangements will be made to accommodate special needs.

Will I be provided food? Light snacks and beverages will be provided during the training sessions. 

Are Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) provided?
No, CEUs are not provided for this event.

Butler County Social Services Overview

These 4- half day trainings combine field trips with guest speakers to allow employees to become familiar with Butler County community resources.  Participants will tour facilities, meet agency staff and get up to date information about services, eligibility, referral processes and fees.

As a result of this event, participants will:

  • Understand the social service delivery system in Butler County
  • Make better referrals
  • Develop relationships 
  • Better serve families and children

Who Should Attend: Butler County agency employees or volunteers who are in a role in which they assist families/consumers in accessing social services. This includes:

  • No Wrong Door agency employees
  • Agency or school employees who have been in their current position for 1 year or less 

This event is limited to 40 participants.  

Cost: $75 per person. Payable by check, credit card or purchase order.

Tuesday, May 15th
We will meet at Ohio Means Jobs. You will receive a tour of the building and hear presentations from multiple agencies including SELF, City of Hamilton Health Department, LifeSpan Inc. Hope House Mission, Etc. 

Thursday, May 24th
We will be at the Butler County Educational Service Center. Presentations will be heard from BCESC early childhood programs, Kinship Navigator, Butler County Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Services Board, FCFC Wraparound, Crisis Consultion and Intervention and online resources. 

Wednesday May 30th:
You will begin and end your day at the Bever Center 210 S. 2nd Street Hamilton, OH 45011. Presentations will include The Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities (with tour of Inside Out Studio); Primary Health Solutions (with tour); WIC; BCRTA; SNAP outreach and Serve City (with tour); You will walk outside several blocks and board a bus during the day. 

Monday June 4th:
We will use the Butler County Children Services office as home base during this “walking day.” Dress for the weather and wear walking shoes as we visit three  buildings on the Fair Avenue campus and hear presentations from multiple agencies.
