Responding to Oilfield Emergencies - April 14 & 15, 2018 

Responding to oilfield emergencies can be challenging. This workshop teaches commonly used practices, references and standards using both classroom and hands-on lessons and demonstrations. Upon completion, each participant will receive a certificate of attendance, documentation for CEU credit hours, a class patch, class photo, field guide and more!

DAY 1 - April 14, 2018

8:30 AM - Registration/Hot Breakfast

9:00 AM - Classroom Training. Lunch will be provided. Some topics covered include:

RESPONDING TO POTENTIAL DRILLING EMERGENCIES 

  • Drilling Methods: Vertical, Directional, Horizontal
  • Flaring Operations while Drilling
  • Well Control
  • Well Completion
  • Introduction to Drilling Equipment and Terms 

RESPONDING TO POTENTIAL PRODUCTION SITE EMERGENCIES 

  • Production Methods: Artificial Lift / Natural Flow 
  • Control Equipment: Well Heads, Valves, Separators, Compressors, etc. 
  • Crude Oil Leaks, Spills, and Containment 
  • Natural Gas Leaks, Natural Gas Liquids / Condensate Spills, Vapor Containment 
  • Crude Oil and Condensate Transportation 

EVALUATING THE EMERGENCY 

  • Situational Understanding of Crude Oil and Natural Gas Exploration and Production 
  • Air Monitoring Exercise
  • Fire Behavior Labs

DAY 2 - April 15, 2018

8:30 AM - Hot Breakfast

9:00 AM - Hands-on fire behavior labs. Lunch will be provided.

Participants must complete the classroom session to participate in the hands-on training session. All hands-on participants must have completed a minimum 36-hour Ohio Volunteer Fire Fighter Course. Attendees are required to bring their own turnout gear and SCBA. All hands-on training will take place outdoors.

Registration does not guarantee workshop attendance. Once you register, you will receive an email confirming your attendance or placement on our wait list. We strive to include all guests, but early registration is encouraged because our workshops fill up quickly. No “walk-in” registrations are permitted. Limit of 4 participants per fire department and 4 out-of-state participants in each class. Registrations can be transferred to another member of the same department.
