An Instructional Seminar:  Basic Understanding of Alpaca E.P.Ds, (expected progeny differences).

Join Sheila and fellow Students in developing a knowledge of E.P.D.s.  Whether your business plan is to market your animals using E.P.D.s or not, understanding of this new industry standard tool is essential in the alpaca market today.

Sheila Scroggins will be your presenter.  Sheila is a Nurse Practitioner, practicing nursing for more than 40 years.  Sheila also has over 30 years of teaching experience.  She is currently teaching at the master's level of instruction for U.C. Davis's School of Nursing.  Sheila is a contributing author with articles in Alpaca Magazine and a number of other publications.

The Basic Understanding of Alpaca EPDs is a 6 hour course, after which, you will learn to read and understand an alpaca EPD trait profile. Upon completion of the course you will have basic knowledge on how to access, interpret and use EPD information. The course will enable you to apply basic EPD knowledge in breeding or purchasing an alpaca.

Bring some of your animals EPD profiles off of the AOA or Open Herd websites and you can work on EPD breeding determinations during the seminar.  If you don't have any EPD profiles I will provide them to discuss in working groups.
