Special Community Workshop for Parents and Caregivers in Santa Cruz, CA

This workshop is free thanks to special support from Plantronics, United Way, the Watsonville Police Assistance Fund, Watsonville YMCA, Bay View School, Minorsan Self-Defense and Fitness, Santa Cruz County Foundation, local businesses, and our Board Members to help us provide workshops for our Santa Cruz County community at this important time!

People Safety skills help people be safe with people at home, atschool, online, out in the world... everywhere. They also help strengthen important relationships.  Learn ways to help young people learn and use age-appropriate People Safety skills on an everyday basis to have safer, more positive experiences with people, including strangers, siblings, peers, and other people they know.

During the workshop, we’ll practice how to help kids:

  • Be and act aware and confident
  • Check with adults if anything seems unsafe
  • Move away from possible problems
  • Follow Stranger Safety rules
  • Stay safe from hurtful words
  • Use voice as a safety tool
  • Set clear boundaries
  • Say “No” or “Stop” clearly and respectfully
  • Deal with other kids poking, pushing, grabbing, etc.
  • Use safety plans if lost in a store, park, or library
  • Get help from busy adults - and persist!

While this workshop is free, pre-registration is still required as there is limited space.

This workshop is not appropriate for people under the age of 18.
Please arrange child care prior to the workshop.

While this workshop is paid for by a special grant from Plantronics, any donations are tax-deductable and greatly appreciated. We do not turn anyone away from our public workshops for lack of money.
