DMV Black Restaurant Week Bartender Competition
The R. R. Bowie Bartender Club, is the official DMV Black Restaurant Week bartending competition. The best spirits and mixed drinks themed showcase will feature bartenders in the DMV. The theme of the competition is "Black History Makers of the DMV". Contestants will prepare cocktails inspired by a local black history makers in the DMV.
COMPETITION RULES
- This Competition is open to ANY bartender currently working in the bar, restaurant or spirits industry residing in the DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) area.
- Bartenders will need to arrive and have their tasting station setup at 4:30pm on November 5, 2018 to compete. (late arrivals will be disqualified).
- Bartenders are able to use and encouraged to bring their personal bartending tools. However tools will be provided as needed.
PEOPLE’S CHOICE
- All bartenders will compete in the People's Choice Round.
- Bartenders will prepare a batch of their cocktail to provide 150 tastings to the audience for people's choice award.
- Audience will receive one vote towards their favorite cocktail.
JUDGES’ CHOICE
- All bartenders will compete in the Judges round.
- Bartenders will prepare 1 cocktail per judge three (3) in total.
- This is a timed competition round, bartenders will be given 5 minutes to create their signature cocktail.
- Judges will score based on the following areas: Flavor, Balance, Criteria of Products, Garnish and Story.
- Glasswear will be provided.
PRIZES
There will be two winners: People's Choice - Wins a Prize Pack
- Judges Choice - Wins a cash prize of $300.
- All bartenders will be highlighted on the DMVbrw Social Media and website.
