Course Description
This mostly flat and fast course will start with an out and back run through the beautiful wooded area on the west side of White Lick Creek that runs through Hummel Park. Starting in the parking lot of the Charleston Pavilion, athletes will race down the trail to a turn-around with an aid station and quickly return to the transition area in the parking lot. During transition, athletes will don their bike gear (or exchange timing chips with a partner), exit transition, and take a speedy lap around the shelter before heading out on the road course. The police and volunteer marked road course features mostly straight, lightly traveled roads in beautiful Hendricks County. Athletes will ride west on Hadley Road before turning south on Moon Road for some serious speed!! Following a short loop on country roads - with a few challenging hills to test your climbing skills - athletes return to Moon Road and race back to the Hummel Park. Upon arriving at the park, athletes will once again enter transition where they - or a teammate - will head back to the trails for a 5k loop through the same trails as the first leg of the Duathlon. Runners will circle the southern most neighborhood of the Peacock Lake subdivision before heading back to the finish line at the parking lot in front of the Charleston Pavilion. Expect a gorgeous, safe, and fast course with a few brief challenges just to make things interesting!
