WSTC Directors Meeting &

TS Gold Deep Dive Data Training

We have a great Winter Directors Meeting (plus special TS Gold Deep Dive Data Training!) planned for Head Start and ECEAP directors and senior staff!

First, we have a special pre-Directors Meeting Training available:

Pre-Meeting Teaching Strategies Gold Deep Dive Data Training 11/26, 9am-4pm ($175):

Are you getting the most out of your TS Gold data?  Do you and your staff and data experts understand all the things you can do with TS Gold to support continuous quality improvement and monitoring?  One of Teaching Strategies top trainers, Donna Fowler, their Content and Implementation Partnerships Manager, really knows her stuff, and is leading the Teaching Strategies Lighthouse work we're doing here in Washington.

This training and discussion will focus on supporting teachers throughout the four-step assessment cycle.  Administrators will learn about the major reports featured in Teaching Strategies GOLD online and practice interpreting the data found in the reports. In addition, participants will identify and discuss a variety of implementation challenges and ways to overcome them.

 WSTC Directors Meeting 11/27 9am-5pm, 11/28 9am-4pm

As you know, these meetings are a great opportunity to get valuable updates, help guide WSA’s work in Olympia and DC, and learn from your peers.  It will be a great opportunity to hear the latest on ECEAP policy developments, the upcoming legislative session, and our thoughts on the new Administration and Congress and the impact on Head Start.

11/27 Agenda:  State Focus (but pertinent to everyone!)

  • DCYF Updates - Kelli Bohanon - DCYF Director of Early Learning
  • Child Care Licensing WAC Variances Update and Discussion - Luba Bezborodnikova
  • Prospects for 2019 - ECEAP (proposed changes to eligibility, slot rate, expansion, facilities), Child Care (WCCC for working parents in community college, WCCC rates, homeless childcare extension), Early ECEAP - Melissa Johnson & Joel Ryan
  • The Big Picture - Long term goals for Early Learning, Jon Gould, Children's Alliance
  • Meet Our Legislative Champions

11/28 Agenda:  Federal Focus (but not entirely!)

  • Updates from Region X Office of Head Start - Kathy Schuknecht, Region X OHS
  • Planning for Early ECEAP - What should our state be considering as we start to explore a state-funded prenatal-3 center-based program?
  • Strengthening Early Achievers - Updates and Conversation about how EA is working and can work better with Head Start, ECEAP and EHS programs - Rachael Brown Kendall, DCYF
  • Preparing for a Head Start Reauthorization - We hear this might start happening!  We've talked about eligibility changes and 5 year grants for a while, but what else should we be asking for as Congress rewrites Head Start/EHS law?
  • Hot Topics Discussion - sometimes we learn the most from this popular session.  Hear from your colleagues about rising issues, and let us know what we should be focusing on.
