FEATURED SPEAKER

This year’s event will feature best-selling author Theresa Flores.

Theresa will share her story as a human trafficking survivor from right here in our community. At 15, she was drugged, raped and tortured for two long years. Theresa was kept in bondage and forced to pay back an impossible debt, all while living at home in Birmingham, MI, attempting to keep her family safe. She would attend school during the day, alongside her abusers, only to be called into service late each night, while her unknowing family slept. Involuntarily involved in a large underground criminal ring, Ms. Flores endured more as a child than most adults will ever face their entire lives.

She is the author of The Slave Across the Street, a USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller. Her new book, The Sacred Bath, which has been published internationally and is a top seller on the UK Sunday Times list, offers a look into her escape from her traffickers and her struggle to heal.
