Discovery Lab - Harmful Algal Blooms

Harmful algal blooms (HABs) occur when large colonies of algae grow out of control and can produce toxins which can be harmful to fish, mammals, birds, and even people! Blooms can be found all over the world but can vary in severity. With the help of VIMS scientists like Marta Sanderson, researchers have begun understanding these blooms.
