Man Versus Tech:  Banking Edition
Jimmy Sawyers, Member of the LLC, Sawyers & Jacobs LLC (www.sawyersjacobs.com)
Conflict.  Man versus nature.  Man versus Man.  Man versus Society.  Man versus Self.  We all learned the four types of literary conflict in middle school.  In this session, learn about technology conflict...Man versus Tech. Today's community bankers are survivors.  Having weathered the downturn, bankers have survived but are they thriving in what is sometimes a hostile environment?  Absent a cape, utility belt, and survival pack, bankers must scrounge for limited resources to run bank operations;  deal with sometimes tense vendor relationships;  battle compliance issues;  fight cybercrime;  educate their colleagues and customers regarding security threats;  and make sound decisions to navigate the minefield of available technology.  While we haven't seen any bankers resort to eating bugs to survive, some certainly feel more like the bug than the windshield these days.

In this session, learn strategies and tactics for dealing with the rugged terrain of today's banking landscape by applying best practices in operations and technology, vendor management,  system selection, risk management, and strategic technology planning.    Discover how to overcome today's technology and risk management challenges and emerge a stronger bank.

10:15 AM - 10:30 AM Networking and Refreshment Break

10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
The New Realities of Mobile Banking:  Engaging Customers Today and Tomorrow!
Robb Gaynor,  Founder & Chief Product Officer Malauzai Software, Inc. (www.malauzai.com
Customers are clamoring for Mobile Banking.  Banks have become aggressive in providing early-stage mobile offerings.  Some successful, some less successful but all have moved the ball forward.  Over 45% of banks nationally now offer a mobile banking app in the iOS App Store and Google Play.  Come learn how these banks are engaging customers via the mobile channel by launching cutting edge, innovative solutions that keep customers coming back for more.  Robb Gaynor will review actual mobile banking usage data based on over 10 million logins since Jan 2013. Through this data you can learn which features customers actually use, how behavior varies from iPhones to iPads, and ultimately gain perspective to help you drive forward with a robust mobile offering for your bank.  Robb will also highlight recent wins for community banks that are out-innovating large banks and their local competitors with mobile offerings that make a difference for customers.

11:30 AM - 1:00PM   Luncheon in the Exhibit Hall and Networking with Exhibitors

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
DLP Strategy:  Do You Know Where Your Data is Going?
Joshua Jacobs, Member of the LLC, Sawyers & Jacobs LLC  (www.sawyersjacobs.com)
Bank networks are becoming more sophisticated and complex allowing information to be shared through a variety of channels including email, file transfer protocol (FTP), digital faxes, USB flash drives, chat sessions, or even old fashioned printing.  All of these methods provide ample opportunities for malicious or accidental dissemination of confidential bank, and bank customer, information.  An effective Data Loss Prevention (DLP) strategy allows banks to monitor Data at Rest, Data in Motion, and Data in Use and protect sensitive information while not shutting down valuable productivity tools.  In this session, we will review DLP and the applications and appliances available to help banks implement an effective DLP strategy and better secure confidential information.

2:00 PM - 2:15 PM Networking and Refreshment Break

2:15 PM - 3:30 PM
The Art of Enterprise Risk Management for Community Banks
Jay Brew, Co-Chairman, Seifried & Brew LLC (www.seifriedbrew.com)
Jimmy Sawyers, Member of the LLC, Sawyers & Jacobs LLC (www.sawyersjacobs.com)
One of the hottest topics in banking today, Enterprise Risk Management is a certain point of discussion during your bank's next examination.  Unfortunately, the quest to implement Enterprise Risk Management has been a difficult and costly task for most banks as the most widely published Enterprise Risk Management models apply to publicly traded, non-bank entities, most of them Fortune 500 companies. Bankers have been faced with the choice of implementing a very generic Enterprise Risk Management program that didn't fit the bank model or engaging costly outside help to spend months and sometimes years developing a bank-specific Enterprise Risk Management program. Consequently, in most cases neither option has produced favorable results.

In this session, learn how banks can establish an Enterprise Risk Management program that is specific to the business of banking. Find out what Enterprise Risk Management is...and is not. Get ahead of the curve with a straightforward approach to the Enterprise Risk Assessment, and realize the benefits of an ongoing Enterprise Risk Management program for your bank.

3:30 PM – 3:45 PM Networking and Refreshment Break

3:45 PM - 5:00 PM
Transforming Your Bank Online With the "Digital Dozen"
Eric Cook, Digital Marketing Strategist, WSI Internet Marketing, Inc. (www.poweredbywsi.com)
We're excited to welcome back our good friend Eric Cook, of WSI Internet Consulting and now CO-AUTHOR of a new book called "Digital Minds: 12 Things Every Business Needs to Know About Digital Marketing" to this year's Bank Tech Summit. Using the book as his guide, Eric will walk us through how bankers can transform their organizations with the 12 key strategies discussed in the book, but with a "banker's spin" to ensure that examples and suggestions are relevant to the banking industry. Plus, he'll be providing copies of the book for some lucky winners to take back and help with the "digitization" of your bank. If you want to remain relevant in the years to come, you need to make sure you're on (not under) the digital bus!

5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Networking Reception in the Exhibit Hall
After a fun-filled day, relax and wind down with old friends and new friends at our reception in the exhibit hall.  We will be giving away some cool prizes as we mix and mingle with bankers, speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors.  Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Day Two – Tuesday, October 29th

8:30 AM - 9:30 AM
Looking for Overlap:  The Role of Technology in Relationship Development
Mark Faircloth, Partner, Faircloth Performance Partners (www.faircloth-partners.com)
For decades banks have separated the use of "face time" experience and hard data in determining the best approach to use in attracting and keeping the best customers.  This separation leads to gaps that hurt performance.  In this highly interactive session, conference attendees will review the elements of "tech and touch" overlap and how the effective use of both skill sets results in more profitable relationships.

The session will feature survey results on current practices and a "what would you do?" case study.

9:30 AM - 9:45 AM Networking and Refreshment Break

9:45 AM - 10:45 AM
IT Risk Management Trends:  Stories From the Front Lines
Jimmy Sawyers, Member of the LLC, Sawyers & Jacobs LLC  (www.sawyersjacobs.com)
Joshua Jacobs, Member of the LLC, Sawyers & Jacobs LLC
Shane Daniel, VP Risk Management, Sawyers & Jacobs LLC
Kristin McNeish, VP Consulting Services, Sawyers & Jacobs LLC
IT risk has mushroomed, touching almost every area of the typical community bank.  Threats unimaginable a few years ago are now occurring with regularity.  The compliance bar continues to be raised by the regulatory agencies as a result.  IT examinations are now broader and deeper in scope.  So, faced with these challenges, where should bankers focus their risk management efforts and finite resources?  In this session, get the latest information from the front lines of banking from those in the trenches who can provide cautionary tales of "Don't let this happen at your bank" and real-world accounts.  Gain several, valuable risk mitigation takeaways that can be applied immediately at your bank.

10:45 AM - 11:00 AM Networking and Refreshment Break

11:00 AM - Noon
Is Your Virtual Branch Growing?  How Well Are You Feeding It?
David Peterson, Executive Vice President of Strategy, Q2 Software, Inc. (www.q2ebanking.com)
Some financial institutions look at their online services such as Internet Banking, Mobile and Merchant Capture as a collection of individual services that have targeted application for certain customers.  Other financial institutions understand that customers view the online services as their primary source for interaction with the institution.   A holistic view of your online branch can provide for growth in overall customer revenue and their satisfaction with your organization.  But this virtual relationship needs to be nurtured; it will not grow successfully on its own.  This session will detail how a virtual branch is created, examine how to create a virtual branch with best of breed services, and how treating a virtual branch like a physical branch can lead to customer satisfaction and profitability.
