Experiencing difficult emotions, such as anger, self-criticism, or sadness, are part of being human, but many of us do not have skillful means of working with these unwanted experiences. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. famously stated "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
We invite you to explore the practice of Loving-kindness in this month's community class. Loving-Kindness is a practice that strengthens the mental habit of positive emotions and decreases negative reactivity. Scientific research shows loving-kindness has numerous benefits including increased compassion, emotional regulation and helpfulness and decreased chronic pain, self-criticism and bias towards others.
