2012 has been recognised as the International Year of Co-operatives by the United Nations. This is an acknowledgement by the international community that co-operatives drive the economy, respond to social change, are resilient to the global economic crisis and are serious, successful businesses creating jobs in all sectors.
As part of this special year, EDAS and Co-operative Development Scotland are joining together to showcase the diversity and benefits of co-operative business models; and whether a start up or growing business, a council service or a community group, there are opportunities for collaboration; enabling economic, environmental and community benefits to be realised.
The event presents expert snapshots of 3 different co-operative business models; film clips from live businesses and group discussions to explore how and why co-operative business models can support business and economic growth.
You will leave with a clear understanding of the potential of all 3 co-operative business models and gather a network of contacts to help put that knowledge into practice.
