A Sharpen Free Approach to Patient Care
Overview:
Are you looking for a hands-on learning experience? This course is designed to give you a chance to actively explore a new technology in hand instruments as well as review and strengthen understanding of basic and advanced instrumentation techniques and ergonomic principles.
Technology has afforded dental hygiene practitioners options in hand instrumentation. This course will introduce and explore XP technology developed by American Eagle Instruments, Inc., the latest in metallurgic advancement for hand instruments. This metallurgic advancement has created the only true non-sharpen instrument available.
Participants will learn how and why this technology works in daily practice and periodontal treatment as well as try the modified scaling technique during the course using typodonts.
Registration will be limited to 36 participants to allow for a personalized hands-on learning experience. Register early to secure your spot.

Karen Siebert, BSDH, MA
Karen Siebert, BSDH, MA, is a part-time clinical instructor and adjunct faculty at the College of Lake County in Waukegan, Illinois, teaching courses in oral pathology and the dental hygiene process of care for patients presenting with medical concerns / special needs. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa, BSDH and earned her MA in Educational Leadership at the University of Illinois Springfield. Karen has practiced clinically, implementing non-surgical periodontal programs and managing dental hygiene departments in two practices.
Karen is now Lead Clinical Educator for American Eagle Instruments, writing and presenting curriculum for continuing education courses and webinars. She also writes articles focusing on both clinical applications and current technology that help us serve patients with the highest quality of care.
She is a member of Careerfusion, ADHA, OSAP, and ADEA. Volunteer positions include state membership chair for IDHA and screening co-chair for the Northern Illinois Oral Cancer Foundation.
