Research Day 2019
The Orthopedic Foundation Research Day” is designed to provide participants with new information about current orthopedic and neurological studies being done at the Orthopedic Foundation. Research includes topics about ankle instability, hallux valgus, spinal fusion, robotic knee arthroplasty, chronic occipital neuralgia and rotator cuff repair. Increased clinician awareness of physician management of these conditions will allow the physical therapist to better establish a more knowledgeable plan of care. Information presented is applicable to the participant’s daily practice in an outpatient orthopedic clinic.

- Discuss the correlation between flatfeet and bunions as they relate to tight calf muscles

- Describe patient responses post gastrocnemius recession for plantar fasciitis

- Discuss the effects of using a cooling blanket with spinal fusion surgery
- Describe the effectiveness of liposomal bipivacaine in lumbar spine surgery
- Discuss unicortivcal vs. bicortical C2-translaminar screw fixation
- Describe mapped-mesh techniques for spinal fixation
- Identify a pedicle screw fixation, cortical screw fixation, and a hybrid fixation construct in lumbar spine fixation
- Discuss the use of corical bone stiffness to determine the risk for additional injury
- Describe the clinical and rediograpghic outcome of repair of large rotator cuff tears wth ECM graft reinforcement.
- Describe the use of robit assistance with knee arthrplasty
- Describe optimal cup insertion technique
- Discuss the use of nerve ablation to treat chronic occipital neuralgia

The Ohio Osteopathic Foundation designates this program for a maximum of 5 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation in this activity.
