Join master blues harmonica players RJ Mischo, Jon Gindick, Michael Fell and Tj Klay with Jodi Farrell for an unforgettable day of blues harmonica interaction, instruction, jamming and performance with a great blues band. (Jon's instruction book comes free with early registration.)
Harmonica players may be asking why they should start singing. The answers are that singing builds your musiciality, develops your ear, allows you to lead the band. Almost all harp players sing. And that is why we have included Jodi Farrell, a GREAT singing instructor, on our Ventura Harmonica Day staff.
But make no mistake, the day is about blues harp. For those of your who don't know, Rj Mischo is an internationally known touring harmonica genius who has become a GREAT teacher. RJ really makes it fun! He is someone you want to know because he makes you feel good. Here he is working with campers.
Tj Klay is a great Nashville country and blues player and Michael Fell is known as the"Tone Master." We have great staff for a day of fun!
The Workshops
The instructional program will present a powerful review of blues harmonica basics. Instruction will include understanding Cross Harp power notes, tone, bending, vibrato, articulation, fundamental blues riffs, improvisation, how to jam, singing and harping, leading a band and more.
Beginners will receive complete and correct instruction on how to start playing the blues. Intermediates will be challenged to grow in new ways.
Around 5pm, we'll take a break, and about 6 pm, we will start our harmonica showcase and participant jam with our band. This always makes a great show!
RJ, Jon and Tj have done about 10 workshops together, and no matter what your level, we know how to get you to the next one, and how to have a great time teaching and playing music.
