Unwinding Desk Posture with Tamara Breuer (LMT, NASM-CPT)

The evidence is clear: prolonged sitting is terrible for our health. When a person spends long periods of time sitting, their postural muscles become fatigued, resulting in the typical “desk posture”: shoulders slumped downward, hips rolled forward and lower back in a stretched position. Desk posture can result in a number of chronic issues such as neck pain, tension headaches, shoulder pain and back pain.  How do we tackle these issues in light of a modern lifestyle that increasingly demands more sitting?

This series focuses on combatting desk posture through corrective exercise and stretching to realign the body in a more neutral position.  It is ideal for desk jockeys and people who spend lots of time sitting, such as drivers, students, dentists, tattoo artists, architects, gamers and movie buffs. Each session has a slightly different focus; you may attend 1-2 sessions or the whole series. You will learn new techniques at each session but it is not necessary to have attended previous sessions to participate.

While not a traditional exercise class, Tamara's sessions involve lots of movement, so please wear comfortable clothing. All levels of fitness and ability are welcome and every body is celebrated. The Well is ADA-certified, LGBTQI-affirming and completely accessible to people with physical challenges.  If you have any medical condition in which a doctor limits your physical activity, please contact Tamara before registrering so The Well may make appropriate accommodations.
