 IFMA OC November Chapter Program
Thursday, November 8, 2018
5:30 PM - 8:30 PM
at OCSD Emergency Operations Center at Loma Ridge

Presentation and Tour of Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) Emergency Operations Center (EOC)

NOTICE: SECURITY CLEARANCE APPLICATION REQUIRED TO ATTEND THIS PROGRAM. SEE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW.

OVERVIEW:
A multi-year major renovation project was recently completed at the EOC which included but was not limited to state-of-the-art upgrades to the emergency communications equipment, customized dispatch furniture, lighting and acoustics for the Emergency Communications Bureau Dispatch Center, flooring and other public accommodations required for Emergency Management due to EOC activation, Fire Life Safety systems, and more.

The OCSD is opening their doors to IFMA OC for this exclusive meeting and tour.

Disaster preparedness is at the forefront of what every business owner, property and facility manager needs to know and understand.  The County of Orange will share recent updates and what the county is doing about emergency management and your attendance will allow you to see/learn first-hand, what happens at Loma Ridge when the County’s EOC is “activated”, as in the recent Holy Fire.

“The Orange County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) functions as the communication and coordination center for both the County and Operational Area emergency response organization and disaster preparedness, providing a central point for coordinating operational, administrative, and support needs of the county and Operational Area Members.  It also assists in coordination and communication between Mutual Aid Coordinators and the state Office of Emergency Services during county-wide and state-wide emergency response and recovery operations.

It has the ability to function as a virtual EOC so that Operational Area Members may communicate between EOCs without co-location.  In addition, the EOC may become responsible for managing the tactical operations of regional resources designed to more efficiently use the pooled resources of Operational Area Members or external resources to benefit the Operational Area as a whole.” (http://www.ocgov.com/about/emergency/eoc)

OCSD facilities are all secured facilities. It is mandatory that all attendees receive approved security clearance in advance, before their reservation for this event can be confirmed.  It doesn’t matter if you’re on another Federal, State, DOJ, DOC, FBI, Airport, or other clearance list… this is an OCSD specific clearance list managed by the OCSD Security Bureau and security protocol will require that each attendee be cleared for the event.   No exceptions.

We will provide you the three-page Security Clearance Application which will need to be completed and returned with a legible copy of a valid Driver’s License, Social Security card or Passport.  When completing the application, please note that there can be no blanks or unchecked/unmarked spaces.  Additionally, failure to disclose any discretionary event in the applicant’s past, that the security bureau finds, is automatic grounds for denial of clearance, and prohibits your participation at this event.

Confidentiality – As part of the registration process we will provide you the email on a secured server to send your application to directly.  An OCSD representative will accept, via email, clear scanned PDFs of the application and identification required.  Upon review of the submitted information, if any information is missing, OCSD will correspond with your directly to preserve confidentiality.

Please get your applications in early to allow application processing time and to secure your attendance. Deadline for submitting clearance applications is October 19, 2018.
