With the State about to make a decision on the location of new casinos, this next Candid Conversation is both pertinent and timely. Melissa Perry, a Postgraduate Fellow in Racing and Gaming at the Albany Law School’s Government Law Center will discuss “From the State Constitution and Back: Gambling (and now Casinos) in New York State.”
Melissa is a recent graduate of Albany Law and has served in a number of government internships including for Judge Lawrence Kahn in the U. S. District Court and Judge Rachel Kretser in the criminal division of the Albany City Court. She also served as a legal aide for the Office of Counsel of the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.
Melissa will offer an overview of gambling and gaming in the State, including the imminent approval of up to four casinos in Upstate New York by the New York State Gaming Facility Location Board.
Albany Law School’s Government Law Center has established the country’s first full time racing and gaming program dedicated to law and policy study on all aspects of gaming, including horse racing, Indian gaming, lotteries and charitable gaming.
