Evidence-based and Emerging Trends for Parents
and Practitioners of Persons with ASD

Please join us for our two-day symposium.
The symposium will open with an address from Dr. Janice DeFrances, CEO/President of The Groden Network, followed immediately with a presentation by Gregory P. Hanley, Ph.D., BCBA-D (Day 1). After the presentation, we have two concurrent breakout sessions for the morning, followed by a general session, and two in the afternoon. There will also be a wine reception and optional ethics workshop at the end of the day. Day 2 features a welcome address and recognition awards, followed by two concurrent breakout sessions in the morning, followed by another two concurrent breakout sessions before lunch, a general session, and two breakout sessions in the afternoon.

This conference includes FREE BCBA credits.
Day 1 offers a maximum of 4.5 credits, not including the optional Ethics workshop (2 more credits for a fee).  Day 2 offers a maximum of 4.5 credits.

Conference mission: To enhance the knowledge and skills of professionals working with children, youths, adults, and families with ASD's in evidence-based practices.

Intended audience: This event is appropriate for professionals who work with children, adolescents, and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families.  Parents and students are also welcome to attend.

Skill ranking of this event:  This event is appropriate for mental health and allied professionals, teachers and other education professionals, and BCBA’s who work with children, adolescents, and adults and their families, as well as parents.

Continuing education credit for this event is co-sponsored by The Groden Network and The Institute for Continuing Education.  The program offers a total of 9.0 contact hours (4.50 hrs. for April  11;  4.50 hrs. for April 12). Full daily attendance is required in order to receive CE credit.  Application forms  will be available on site. The CE processing fee is $10 per contact hour to be paid with registration. CE verification is mailed to participants following the event. Psychology:  The Institute for Continuing Education is an organization approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Institute for Continuing Education maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

Counseling:  NBCC credit is not offered for this event. The Massachusetts and Rhode Island Boards of LPC accept programs sponsored by approved APA providers. Attendees are responsible for checking with their State Board to review continuing education requirements for license renewal.

Social Work:  The Institute for Continuing Education is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), though the  Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. The Institute for Continuing Education maintains responsibility for the program. ASWB Provider No. 1007. Licensed social workers should contact their individual state jurisdiction to review current continuing education requirements for license renewal.

Marriage-Family Therapy: This program has been submitted for pre-approved for MA / RI MFTs.  

Skill Level:  This event is appropriate for mental health professionals of all skill levels.

Instruction Methodology:  Didactic, demonstration, audio-visual, case examples.

The Rhode Island Chapter of the Autism Society of America is pleased to be able to award limited scholarships of $50.00 for parents to attend this symposium. Please contact Lisa Rego, President of ASARI, at 401-595-3241, to enter your name. Parents will need to register and pay the full amount of $100.00.  After confirmation of attendance at the symposium, they will be refunded $50.00.
