Critically acclaimed Chicago-based writer Fern Schumer Chapman has written several award-winning books. Her memoir, MOTHERLAND -- a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection, a finalist for the National Jewish Book Award, and a BookSense76 pick -- is a popular choice for book clubs. Her other books, IS IT NIGHT OR DAY?, LIKE FINDING MY TWIN, and STUMBLING ON HISTORY are used in middle school classrooms. In 2004, the Illinois Association of Teachers of English (IATE) named Chapman the "Illinois Author of the Year." Twice, Oprah Winfrey shows have featured her books.

Rae is a true leader in using creative expression to nurture self-worth, resilience, healing, and social change. For over fifteen years she has helped individuals and teams discover their passion, purpose and authentic power to become confident and effective thought leaders and creative problem solvers.  Rae, a community activist for over 40 years, passionately focuses her lens on improving the lives of women and children whether designing  art work for Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky’s “ask” gun safety campaign or speaking to our congressional leaders about the Runaway and Homeless Youth  Trafficking Prevention Act or sharing her personal story of healing from childhood sexual abuse.  Rae believes when we share our stories of resilience, people know they are not alone and it creates a positive ripple of hope. She is the author of Art From My Heart and the Benjamin Franklin award winning inspirational book, The Creative Activist: Make the World Better, One Person, One Action at a Time.

The Creative Activist is an inspirational toolbox for seekers of all kinds. It contains 36 stories from people who have embraced their personal power and creative gifts to create change in the world around them.
