DESCRIPTION OF COURSE CONTENT:
Botulinum Toxin-A (BTX-A) utilization by health care professionals is increasing. The dentist’s expert knowledge of the head and neck anatomy make them an ideal provider of BTX-A therapies. This course will focus on aesthetic and therapeutic procedures that can be easily incorporated into any dental practice. This presentation will be didactic and include demonstrations of BTX-A administration as well as hands-on participation by attendees.


THE EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES,
Educational Objectives will focus on but not limited to:
1) Introduction to BTX-A aesthetic procedures and therapeutic procedures of the head and neck performed by dentists
2) Preparation and administration of BTX-A
3) Evaluation, communication and documentation of BTX-A treatments to achieve clinical success and meet patient expectations.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The course is recommended for dentists wishing to implement Botulinum Toxin-A aesthetic or therapeutic procedures into their practices. Dentists are encouraged to bring a staff member that assists in clinical procedures and will be involved with BTX-A treatments to attend lecture and hands-on participation.

Participants should bring: loupes, proof of malpractice coverage, WA State dental license and 1 patient for administration of BTX-A.

Instructor Qualifications,
Dr. Hess is a general dentist that graduated from the University of Washington in 1994 and practices in Auburn, WA. He is an Affiliate Assistant Professor Restorative Dentistry, Affiliate Faculty Oral Medicine and the Director of the Tucker Institute at the University of Washington. Dr. Hess lectures on implant failures, fixed removable restorations and dental materials including zirconia. He presents hands-on courses in Washington State for Botulinum toxin-A and Dermal filler therapies.

Dr. Hess has been published in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants, Decisions in Dentistry, and Operative Dentistry. He has lectured at the ADA Annual Meeting, the AGD Annual Meeting, IAG Congress and the Canadian Academy of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics.

He is a Master and has his Life Long Service Recognition from the Academy of General Dentistry, Member of the Academy of Richard V Tucker Study Clubs, Academy of Operative Dentistry, Fellow in the International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Honour Society, American College of Dentists, SKCDS Forensic Team, WSDA, ADA, DOCS Sedation, and Spear Faculty Club.
