Cumulative Pollution Impacts and Environmental Justice

CANCELLED

Unfortunately, do to unforeseen circumstances, our event for Thursday May 24 has to be cancelled. We are working hard to reshedule for a later date, so keep an eye out for more details coming soon. Sorry for any inconvenience, but feel free to check out our event page here for more interesting upcoming events!

The New Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance will conduct an environmental justice and cumulative impacts workshop and tour for Sustainable Jersey on May 24, 2012 in Camden.

A central concern of environmental justice is the disproportionate burden of pollution that has been widely documented in communities of color and low-income neighborhoods.  Only recently have cumulative impacts been recognized by environmental policymakers as critical issues that must be addressed.  Cumulative impacts involve multiple interacting sources of pollution that are inadequately controlled by our current laws and regulations.

The workshop will provide general information on both environmental justice and cumulative impacts, as well as involve workshop participants in a discussion of possible solutions for the problem of cumulative impacts in New Jersey.  The workshop will end with a tour of several environmental justice neighborhoods in Camden.

There is metered parking available on Market Street, near the venue.   Be sure to bring change for the meters!
