Honoring Linda Pumphrey:
A special evening benefit for the Alliance for American Quilts

The Alliance for American Quilts (Quilt Alliance) invites you to attend an evening of sweets, quilts and sweet quilt stories! We're pleased and proud to honor longtime Alliance volunteer and quilt history champion Linda Pumphrey as she finishes her board service.

We'll start the evening with an exhibition of Linda's private quilt collection then indulge ourselves with wine, dessert and coffee and a fabulous silent auction. Quilt historian and Quilters Hall of Fame Honoree (2009) Merikay Waldvogel will begin our main program with a story about how she met Linda. Then we'll settle in to watch Linda being interviewed for the Quilters' S.O.S. – Save Our Stories project. Q.S.O.S. is the Alliance's grassroots oral history project that captures the stories of quiltmakers from the United States and beyond. The collection now includes more than 1,000 interviews archived in the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress and presented on the Alliance's website (www.QuiltAlliance.org/qsos).

Don't miss this special opportunity to join us this summer to honor Linda and come together to document, preserve and share our stories as a creative community. And if you can't make the trip to Omaha but want to honor Linda and support the Alliance, please make a donation in honor of Linda. All donors of $50 or more will have a chance to send an audio message to Linda on this special occasion.

Linda PumphreyLinda Pumphrey is Global Sales Manager for AccuQuilt LLC®, worldwide distributor of fabric cutting solutions in the quilting and fabric crafts markets. Linda is responsible for expanding the reach of AccuQuilt product lines on a national and international level through the execution of sales strategies and programs, to achieve maximum sales volumes for AccuQuilt products. She also oversees the research and development of new products as well as the sales strategies for both new and existing products.

Prior to joining the AccuQuilt team in 2009, she was National Sales Manager for the historical brand, Mountain Mist, for twenty years. While at Mountain Mist, she was Curator of the Historical Mountain Mist Corporate Quilt Collection.

In addition to being an active member of the quilt industry and nonprofit sector (she serves on several national boards including the Alliance for American Quilts), Pumphrey is an award-winning quilter. Her love of quilting grew from her mother and her grandmothers. She can trace back that there have been quilters in her family for at least five generations.

Merikay WaldvogelMerikay Waldvogel is a researcher, writer, and curator of quilt-related history and has lectured extensively on quilts, especially those from the Depression era. She was the co-director of Quilts of Tennessee, a state documentation project, which resulted in a traveling exhibition and publication. She has curated exhibitions for museums, as well as traveling companies, and has written numerous articles on quilt research. She was a founding member of the American Quilt Defense Fund and served on the Board of Directors of the American Quilt Study Group. She received her B.A. in French from Monmouth College and an M.A. in Linguistics from the University of Michigan. Read more about Merikay on the Quilters Hall of Fame blog.
