Give-a-Day for the Bay Cleanup
at
Bay Pines STEM Center
January 22nd
9am-12am

Marine debris in Tampa Bay doesn't just consist of plastics. It also include natural products, like wood.  Pilings, docks pieces, and construction lumber also make there way into our Bay and on high tides, these materials wash into mangrove forests which can harm the ecosystem.

On January 22nd from 9 am to 12 pm, join us for a Give-a-Day for the Bay unlike any other. During this Give-A-Day, you will have the opportunity to cleanup an area plagued with lumber and drift wood materials! You have the option of hauling out only lumber, removing trash and debris, or both!

Wait there's more!

Did you receive a new tool for the holidays that you can't wait to use? Are you crafty and in need of aged lumber scraps or reclaimed wood for your next project? Are you interested in building a bench, boho-beach themed headboard, raised garden bed, but don't know where to start?

We've got you covered!

The St. Pete College Construction and Engineering professors and students will be at the event with saws, screws, and drivers, ready to help those visions of a new garden bench or other wood craft become a reality. All you have to do is pick out your favorite piece(s) of reclaimed wood and have an idea of a wood craft you'd like to build and they will help with the rest! They will also be available to answer questions for those who would like to take lumber and build their own craft project at home.

Bagged lunch to take to-go will be provided for all volunteers.

Free lunch and free lumber? This is an event you don't want to miss! Can't wait to see you there!
